How My A.I.R Formula Works for Bay Area Industries
My A.I.R. coaching formula emerged from the lessons I’ve learned through my mistakes and my successes over 20 years of professional experience in the competitive industries of entertainment and law across the globe.
The A.I.R. acronym refers to three essential elements of professional development needed to become a great leader and an empowered version of oneself:
Alignment, Influence, and Resilience.
It took me over a decade to perfect it, and it is the kind of formula I wish I had to guide me throughout my career to save me from a lot of anxiety, bad habits, and spiraling.
It’s a formula that helps you develop an authentic leadership presence, builds confidence and self-trust in your decision making, and stops you from spiraling into worry that limits growth. I’ve applied it successfully working with a number of Bay Area industry professionals across Silicon Valley in:
- Technology/IT
- Media
- Healthcare
- Finance/Financial Services
- And more
It will help you go from being a perfectionist and people pleaser to feeling powerful, without having to fake it.
Alignment
Align your career choices, your goals, and your leadership style so you can show up powerfully and authentically.
Influence
Develop the interpersonal skills that build influence to set you up for leadership success at any stage of your career.
Resilience
Learn to connect with and trust your intuition and the instincts you need to make the best decisions for yourself and for your career.
Find a Coach Who Gets You
Before engaging Madeline, I lacked confidence in my skills, I didn’t feel good enough, and I was considering returning to what I was used to, which I knew didn’t fulfill me or suit my stage of life, rather than feeling bold enough to take a new step forward. Madeline gave me more courage and less fear of failure. [She] made me think about my leadership style and how to show up powerfully. Since working with Madeline, I feel more anchored and more clear on my path. I got a new job, and I am showing up in a way that is aligned with my values, which makes me feel good. I also got a pay rise, was promoted, AND was offered a new role!
When I started coaching with Madeline, I was feeling stuck at work. I wanted to grow beyond my current role but needed help figuring out what path to take, what skills to focus on, and how to ask for it. Madeline tailored her coaching to my experience and needs at the time. It felt different and insightful, and she could effortlessly draw on relevant knowledge and resources. I found it easy to talk to her right away. Now I’m starting a new role in a completely different industry! Working with Madeline helped me develop the confidence to trust myself and my values at work, confront change, and find a better fit.
Having switched from a career in the arts to a career in marketing in my early thirties, I felt like I was constantly trying to catch up with everyone my age. The stress/pressure/anxiety of logging into LinkedIn and seeing my classmates excelling while I was just starting was constant. I felt lost and unenthused about my professional future. The first time I talked to Madeline, I remember thinking, “Wow, that was actually really helpful!”. She’s super easy to talk to and very empathetic. The best part was that she gave me actionable advice and got to the core of my career anxieties. She was instrumental in helping me realize my values in terms of what I need from a workplace. After coaching with Madeline, I look at job offers and think of my professional future differently. I’m thinking more about what aligns with my values and what will be sustainable. I also feel less pressure in general in relation to my career.
My manager and mentor at my work quit, and I felt lost about how I wanted to move forward. I was debating going back to school. My work life was very stressful at that time, so I had a lot of anxiety. I felt out of control and uncertain about my role in the firm and my life. Madeline coached me and helped me improve my oral and written communication skills and tackle a few fears of mine. I found the courage to have a tough conversation at work concerning my role and ask for a promotion; if it weren’t for her coaching, I would have avoided the conversation, leaving me very unhappy with where I was. I was able to establish my future goals within the firm and outside. Madeline has been a great coach in making me balance the two with realistic and manageable approaches. I went back to school and managed to negotiate four days a week in my current role. I have a clear pathway to my long-term goal that no longer feels daunting and impossible, which is the best feeling when you have lived many years in great despair and hopelessness.
As a young professional, I was in an exploratory phase to find my leadership and management style in the workplace. Madeline created the most conducive environment for me to think, reflect, and analyze. She is incredibly thoughtful and provides deep insight into areas I had not thought about before. I also love how she preserves my personality while giving me guidance and ideas. The most significant transformation/growth from coaching the past four months is feeling less self-doubt. I’m far more confident and assured than I was before I started. This was super helpful as I interviewed for positions and decided where my career would change. Shortly after coaching with Madeline, I landed my dream job!
I was struggling to find the courage to negotiate my salary and position at a new job. Madeline helped me gain confidence and think assertively and strategically. I was able to get the compensation and position I deserved. I can’t emphasize enough how incredibly empowering it was to have Madeline on my side when negotiating my position and promotions and helping me get clear on my goals.

More About Me
I spent over a decade chasing career happiness before realizing I was focusing on the wrong things. Before law school, I temporarily dropped out of college to make money doing door-to-door sales, worked as a tour director in Europe, studied Afro-Brazilian dance in Paris, and was a film production assistant.
Then, in my first five years as a lawyer when I thought I was supposed to have it all worked out, I moved jobs five times, working in corporate law, the United Nations, and government agencies. Eventually, I found my niche in entertainment law, moved to Hollywood, and became the Production Attorney for the James Bond franchise.
For years I had been making decisions based on anxiety, was seeking external validation and felt I had no one to guide me. It was only when I shifted from a never ending “do more” mentality, to focusing on what I could control— my values, emotions, and reactions — that things transformed for me. This led to a dream role, better salary and more influence and respect at work, but more significantly I developed the self-awareness, self-trust and confidence to make bold decisions and live my career for myself.
I want the same for you and realize there may be no-one guiding you on your path as a San Francisco Bay Area professional. That’s why I am excited to share the framework I developed that helped me achieve these changes so you don’t have to struggle for as long as I did!
